Course Description
- Outline a pragmatic approach to the evaluation of dysphagia including the appropriate use of endoscopy, manometry and barium swallow.
- Identify cost-effective and pragmatic approach to diagnosing IBS and newest therapeutics (FODMAPS diet,
pharmacologic therapies, etc.).
- Compare modalities to diagnose cirrhosis (including
non-invasive tests).
- When to refer to a transplant center.
- Current epidemiology of transplantation.
- Define psychosocial treatments and their utility within GI including IBD.
- Discuss current and potential concerns faced by NPs and PAs working in GI practices with practical advice on addressing them
- Discuss the diagnosis and management of Crohn's disease.
- Report emerging therapies for management of ulcerative colitis.
- Review consensus definitions of genetic syndromes associated with colorectal cancer, including FAP and HNPCC, when to suspect them, when to refer and screening and surveillance protocols.
