- Determine the surgical population in whom general anesthesia with a volatile anesthetic may be beneficial (1)
- Compare the effects of general anesthetic technique on cardiac and noncardiac surgical patients (2,4, 5)
- Recognize the physiologic mechanisms whereby volatile anesthetics may be advantageous (6)
