Course Description

After completing this module, you should be able to:
- Recognise the diagnosis of anorexia nervosa in a child or young person, and carry out an initial primary care assessment
- Recognise the common physical and biochemical changes seen in anorexia nervosa and be able to exclude other common differential diagnoses
- Understand the short, medium, and long term physical consequences of anorexia nervosa for young people
- Advise on management options such as dietary approaches while awaiting specialist assessment
- Feel confident in making a referral to secondary care
- Understand the consent issues in young people with anorexia nervosa.
