After completing this CME module, participants will be able to

1. Discuss the pathogenesis, incidence, and classification of diabetic foot ulcers.
2. Conduct an appropriate history and physical examination of a patient with a diabetic foot ulcer.
3. Identify and describe imaging tests and other studies useful in the diagnosis and staging of diabetic foot ulcers.
4. Generate an appropriate differential diagnosis.
5. Discuss appropriate management of patients with a diabetic foot ulcer, including nonsurgical and surgical treatment options.
