Activity Description

In this activity, an expert in infectious diseases discusses guidance for healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with COVID-19.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other clinicians involved in the management of patients with COVID-19.

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Describe the epidemiology and virology of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)
  • Evaluate patients with suspected COVID-19 infection in accordance with current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), recognizing that recommendations may be adapted by state and local health departments to respond to rapidly changing local circumstances
  • Assess the efficacy, safety, and appropriate clinical utilization of current and emerging COVID-19 management and prevention strategies
  • Employ evidence-based protocols to provide appropriate care for patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19
