Description
Our presenter, William J. Robbins, MD, FACP, AAHIVS is a sub-specialist in Infectious Disease and a specialist in HIV medicine. He is also a principal investigator for multiple studies involving phase II-III agents in the treatment of HIV. Dr. Robbins will present how to identify the key principles in managing CVD risk in persons with HIV infection, define the most appropriate successful evidence-based therapeutic interventions to reduce the risk of CVD and/or progression including smoking cessation, diet, exercise, BP management, and lipid lowering therapy; and how to integrate significant drug-drug interactions between statins and ART into therapeutic decision making.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this online course, the learner will be able to:
- Identify the key principles in managing CVD risk in persons with HIV infection.
- Define the most appropriate successful evidence-based therapeutic interventions to reduce the risk of CVD and/or progression including smoking cessation, diet, exercise, BP management, and lipid-lowering therapy.

This activity, Initiative to Decrease Cardiovascular Risk and Increase Quality of Care for Patients Living with HIV/AIDS Web Course, has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 3 Prescribed credits by the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP accreditation begins December 14, 2009. Term of approval is for two years from this date. Each web course is approved for 1 Prescribed credit.

AAPA accepts Category I credit from AOACCME, Prescribed credit from AAFP, and AMA PRA Category 1 CreditTM from organizations accredited by ACCME.
