Program Description & Educational Objectives

In this activity, experts on the management of gastrointestinal disorders discuss novel concepts in diverticular disease with a particular focus on updates regarding the pathophysiology and development of diverticula and diverticular disease, as well as standards of care, emerging therapies, and new directions for therapy in this field.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Recognize the signs and symptoms of diverticular disease
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the pathophysiology of diverticular disease, including new theories of disease development
  • Make an accurate diagnosis of diverticular disease based on patient symptoms at presentation and other relevant findings
  • Recommend evidence-based management for a patient presenting with asymptomatic, symptomatic uncomplicated, or complicated diverticular disease
  • Assess the clinical potential of novel strategies under investigation for the management of diverticular disease, including anti-inflammatory agents and probiotics

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of gastroenterologists and other clinicians involved in the management of diverticular disease.

Requirements for Successful Completion

In order to receive credit, participants must view the activity and complete the post-test and evaluation form. There are no pre-requisites and there is no fee to participate in this activity or to receive CME credit. Statements of Credit are awarded upon successful completion of the post-test and evaluation form.
