Learning objectives
- Differentiate changes in the oral cavity associated with aging versus disease.
- Manage upper GI symptoms in a patient with enteral feeding.
- Develop an approach to the elderly patient with undernutrition.
- Apply changes associated with aging that increase risk of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) related complications in the elderly.
- Recognize safe medications for conscious sedation in elderly patients.
- Identify medications commonly used in the elderly which can cause diarrhea.
- Screen for common conditions associated with care of the elderly post-transplant liver patient.
