Program Description & Educational Objectives

In this activity, an expert in hepatology discusses practical perspectives on management of hypervolemic hyponatremia in patients with cirrhosis.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Describe and/or manage disease complications in cirrhotic patients presenting with hyponatremia
  • Determine the eligibility of a given cirrhotic patient with hyponatremia for liver transplant
  • Apply evidence-based guidelines on the relative efficacy and safety of therapy for hyponatremia in cirrhosis to point-of-care practice
  • Recommend therapeutic strategies for hyponatremia in cirrhosis based on disease severity and determine appropriate interventions for cases that are not resolved with recommended initial management

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists and other clinicians involved in the management of hyponatremia.

Requirements for Successful Completion

In order to receive credit, participants must view the activity and complete the post-test and evaluation form. There are no pre-requisites and there is no fee to participate in this activity or to receive CME/CNE/CPE credit. Statements of Credit are awarded upon successful completion of the post-test and evaluation form.
