After completing this CME module, participants will be able to
1. Discuss the pathophysiology of liposarcoma, including the epidemiology, common sites of occurrence, and classification.
2. Articulate the histologic and cytogenetic characteristics and prevalence of each of the histologic types of liposarcoma.
3. Recognize the typical clinical presentation of lipomatous tumors.
4. Identify characteristic imaging features of the different histologic types of liposarcoma.
5. Generate an appropriate differential diagnosis for well-differentiated liposarcoma/atypical lipomatous tumor, myxoid liposarcoma, and pleiomorphic liposarcoma.
6. Describe appropriate management of patients with liposarcoma, including the use of surgical resection, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.
7. Identify factors associated with poor outcomes in patients with liposarcoma.
