Activity Description and Educational Objectives

In this activity, based on a recent symposium held during the 2017 American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting, a panel of experts in the management of multiple myeloma discuss how the integration of novel and next-generation agent classes into several disease settings, from newly diagnosed to relapsed and refractory disease, has changed and will continue to change clinical practice.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Cite updated safety and efficacy evidence on novel treatment platforms and next-generation agents in myeloma, including proteasome inhibitors, IMiDs, antibodies, and other innovative therapeutics
  • Integrate novel therapeutics into the management of transplant eligible patients with myeloma, including as induction or post-SCT maintenance therapy
  • Select evidence-based primary therapy for elderly patients with myeloma or individuals unable to receive stem cell transplant
  • Develop treatment strategies using novel components for patients with relapsed myeloma, including those with early relapsed or treatment-refractory disease

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of hematologist-oncologists, oncologists, advanced practice oncology nurses, physician assistants, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients with myeloma.
