Program Description & Educational Objectives

In this activity, an expert in nephrology discusses methods to optimize the long-term outcomes in kidney transplant recipients.

Statement of Need
This activity addresses specific performance gaps for clinicians who manage patients who have undergone a renal transplant.

Elements of Competence
This activity has been designed to change learner competence; it focuses on appropriate graft and immunosuppressant monitoring protocols in kidney transplant recipients, provides evidence-based strategies for the management of comorbidities in kidney transplant recipients, and addresses potential drug-drug interactions with commonly employed medications for comorbidities and immunosuppressive therapies in kidney transplant recipients.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Employ appropriate graft and immunosuppressant monitoring protocols in kidney transplant recipients
  • Implement evidence-based strategies for the management of comorbidities in kidney transplant recipients in efforts to improve long-term outcomes for these patients
  • Assess potential drug-drug interactions with commonly employed medications for comorbidities and immunosuppressive therapies in kidney transplant recipients

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of nephrologists, transplant surgeons, and other clinicians involved in the management of renal transplant recipients.

Requirements for Successful Completion

There are no pre-requisites and there is no fee to participate in this activity or to receive CME credit.
