Course Description

After reading this article, the learner should be able to:
- recognize that repair of transposition of the great arteries can be performed in infants less than 2.5 kg, but with increased risk.
- explain that the bulk of the mortality in low weight infants undergoing an arterial switch procedure is for babies less than 2.0 kg.
- indicate that low weight children who survive the arterial switch procedure have very good long-term results.
