- Apply current United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) guidelines to screening for viral hepatitis

- Identify which laboratory tests are most appropriate for diagnosis

- Assess whether or not a patient requires vaccination for hepatitis B

- Distinguish which patients require referral to specialty care
