Course Description

After reading this article, the learner should be able to:
- recognize that most patients with congenitally corrected transposition of the great arteries can undergo anatomic repair (a Senning atrial baffle with an arterial switch or with a Rastelli procedure) with low operative mortality and good long-term results.
- discuss that the results for a double switch with an arterial switch operation compared with a double switch with a Rastelli type operation have similar results.
- explain that patients who have undergone previous palliation for left ventricular training with a pulmonary artery band can do as well as those who have a primary double switch procedure.
