Program Description & Educational Objectives

In this activity, an expert in venous thromboembolism prophylaxis discusses strategies for prevention in surgical and medical patients.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Apply evidence-based guidelines for the prevention of VTE in the hospital setting to ensure successful transition into outpatient care
  • Evaluate current screening and prevention practices using national consensus standards for the prevention and care of VTE to improve patients’ outcomes

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of hospitalists, emergency medicine physicians, and other clinicians involved in VTE prophylaxis.

Requirements for Successful Completion

In order to receive credit, participants must view the activity and complete the post-test and evaluation form. There are no pre-requisites and there is no fee to participate in this activity or to receive CME credit. Statements of Credit are awarded upon successful completion of the post-test and evaluation form.
