On completion of this article, you should be able to: (1) recognize the indications and contraindications for hormonal birth control and hormone replacement therapy in women with lupus; (2) describe the effect of cyclophosphamide on fertility in men and women and ways to preserve fertility in this setting; and (3) identify the classic differences in lupus clinical course between men and women.
