• appreciate the efficacy of in situ replacement for mycotic aneurysm of the aorta
• learn the results of the management approach applied in the treatment of 23 patients with mycotic aneurysms of the aorta
• recall the role of rifampicin-bonded aortic grafts and omental pedicle grafting in the outstanding results achieved
• understand the rates of overall survival and freedom from aortic events at five years postoperatively
