Activity Description and Educational Objectives

In this activity based on the 2017 Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting (ACMG 2017), experts in the recognition and management of Gaucher disease type 1 consider the key tenets for improving interdisciplinary collaboration in the diagnosis of this disease, provide guidance in personalizing the management of Gaucher disease type 1, and offer strategies for monitoring individuals with this disease over the long term.

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Apply an interdisciplinary approach to the identification and diagnosis of patients with Gaucher disease type 1
  • Employ consensus recommendations for effective and ongoing monitoring of patients with Gaucher disease type 1
  • Use key data sets on available enzyme-replacement and substrate reduction therapies when managing patients with Gaucher disease type 1
  • Develop strategies for personalizing the treatment of patients with Gaucher disease type 1 throughout the course of their disease

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of medical geneticists, genetic counselors, hematologists, hematologist-oncologists, and other clinicians involved in the management of patients with Gaucher disease type 1.

Requirements for Successful Completion

In order to receive credit, participants must view the activity and complete the post-test and evaluation form. A score of 70% or higher is needed to obtain CME credit. There are no pre-requisites and there is no fee to participate in this activity or to receive CME credit. Statements of Credit are awarded upon successful completion of the post-test and evaluation form.
