In this activity, experts in the management of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) discuss the recently changed therapeutic landscape for the management of newly diagnosed patients who present with chronic-phase disease. The experts will discuss how different attempts at tyrosine kinase inhibitor intensification in this setting—from the use of second-generation agents to higher doses of first-generation TKIs—have been explored in clinical trials, and review which strategies have been validated for use in newly diagnosed patients. The faculty will also address clinical decision-making in the first-line setting through a series of case vignettes that will cover therapy selection and management of treatment-related adverse events for patients with CML.
