Course Description

After completing the material in this article, the learner should be able to:
1. Describe the risks of variceal bleeding in patients with portal hypertension and the role TIPS with variceal embolization has in reducing those risks;
2. Identify commonly used materials for variceal embolization after TIPS; and
3. Provide the advantages and disadvantages of variceal embolization using vascular plugs.
