Activity Description and Educational Objectives

In this activity, an expert in pediatric rheumatology utilizes case-based storytelling to guide learners through the diagnosis and treatment of systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the articular and extra-articular signs and symptoms of systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis (sJIA)
  • Employ appropriate inclusion and exclusion criteria to facilitate an early and accurate diagnosis of sJIA
  • Recognize the mechanism of action, efficacy, and safety of current treatment approaches to sJIA
  • Effectively communicate with patients and/or caregivers to promote understanding of sJIA, as well as treatment options and expectations

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of rheumatologists, rheumatology nurses, and other clinicians involved in treating patients with systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

Nursing Education Purpose Statement

The purpose of this activity is to improve knowledge and competence of nurses concerning the treatment of systemic juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

Requirements for Successful Completion

In order to receive credit, participants must view the activity and complete the post-test and evaluation form. A score of 70% or higher is needed to obtain CME/MOC/CNE credit. There are no pre-requisites and there is no fee to participate in this activity or to receive CME/MOC/CNE credit. Statements of Credit are awarded upon successful completion of the post-test and evaluation form.
