Course Description

After completing the activity, the learner will be better able to:
- Describe the mechanism and electrocardiographic appearance of typical atrial flutter (AFL).
- Differentiate typical AFL from other forms of supraventricular tachycardia including atypical AFL and atrial fibrillation (AF).
- Apply the CHA2DS2-VASc scoring system to determine the risk of stroke in a patient with AF.
- List the guideline indications for catheter ablation of AFL using the new 2015 ACC/AHA/HRS Guideline for the Management of Adult Patients With Supraventricular Tachycardia.
- Provide the rationale for cardioversion instead of ablation in some patients with AFL.
