Course Description

After completing the material in this article, the learner should be able to:
1. Describe the importance of radiologic-pathologic correlation in the management of needle biopsy results;
2. Describe to a patient or her referring physician why a biopsied lesion may on occasion need to be excised even when benign results are returned, and in what specific settings that might occur; and
3. Consider methods that might allow safe triage of patient with discordant benign results away from the need for surgical excision.
